Dr. Cindy M. P. Duke is the definition of turning dreams into reality against all odds. When searching for Caribbean women who embody resilience, innovation, and excellence in medicine, her story jumps off the page. From a village of less than 50 households in Tobago to founding her own fertility institute in Las Vegas, Dr. Duke's journey is a masterclass in determination and breaking barriers.

Dr. Duke was born and raised in Argyle Village, Tobago, in the beautiful twin-island nation of Trinidad & Tobago. Growing up on the island, she developed a fierce passion for STEM subjects, physics, chemistry, biology, and mathematics, laying the foundation for what would become an incredible medical career. But her story really kicks into high gear when, at just 18 years old, she made the bold decision to leave her small village and immigrate to the United States.

Imagine the courage that takes! Moving from a close-knit community of fewer than 50 households to the bustling streets of New York City is no small feat. Dr. Duke didn't just survive the transition, she thrived! While adapting to a completely new culture and academic system, she worked as a cashier in Brooklyn, hustling to make her dreams come true. That's the kind of grit that can't be taught!

But here's where it gets even more impressive. Dr. Duke didn't just pursue medicine, she went for the ultimate power combo: an M.D. AND a Ph.D.! She completed both degrees at the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry, specializing in Microbiology & Immunology for her doctoral work. Talk about an overachiever! This rare dual training makes her both a physician and a scientist, a combination that allows her to approach medicine from multiple angles and push boundaries in ways most can't.

Her training didn't stop there. Dr. Duke completed her residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at the prestigious Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland (yes, THE Johns Hopkins!), and then went on to complete a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility at Yale New Haven Hospital in Connecticut. She was collecting degrees and experience from some of the most elite institutions in the country, proving that Caribbean excellence can shine anywhere!

Now, here's where Dr. Duke really shows her entrepreneurial spirit. She didn't just join someone else's practice, she founded her own! Dr. Duke is the CEO and Medical Director of the Nevada Fertility Institute (NFI) in Las Vegas, Nevada. She saw a need, envisioned a solution, and built it from the ground up. Her institute focuses on helping individuals and couples achieve their dreams of parenthood, with special emphasis on fertility preservation for cancer patients and addressing healthcare disparities in reproductive medicine.

But Dr. Duke's impact extends far beyond her clinic walls. She holds a faculty position at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Medicine, where she's shaping the next generation of medical professionals. Her research spans virology, immunology, reproductive biology, and healthcare access, always with an eye toward eliminating disparities in infertility treatment and reaching underserved communities globally.

What makes Dr. Duke's story so powerful is how she's used every challenge as a stepping stone. From working as a cashier to fund her education, to navigating cultural transitions, to breaking into male-dominated fields of science and entrepreneurship, she's never let obstacles define her limits. Instead, she's redefined what's possible for Caribbean women in medicine.

Dr. Duke is board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology and fellowship-trained in Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility, but her credentials only tell part of the story. The real story is about a girl from a small village in Tobago who dared to dream bigger than her surroundings, worked harder than anyone thought possible, and is now changing lives every single day through cutting-edge reproductive medicine.

She's proving that Caribbean women don't just participate in global healthcare, we're founding institutes, conducting groundbreaking research, and creating pathways for others to follow! Dr. Cindy M. P. Duke is living proof that where you start doesn't determine where you finish, and that Caribbean excellence knows no boundaries!
